Tamil Nadu's Fifth Mega Vaccination Drive: Health Dept Inoculates 22.55 Lakh People On Sunday
The highest number of people were vaccinated in Chennai with 1.63 lakh people receiving the vaccination in over 1000 camps across the city.
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government inoculated 22.5 lakh people in the fifth mega COVID-19 vaccination drive conducted across the state through 32, 017 vaccination centres on Sunday.
According to a report on The New Indian Express, Tamil Nadu vaccinated 22.52 lakh people till 8. 10 pm on Sunday. Out of the total, 11.50 lakh people received the first vaccine dose while 11.02 lakh people received the second dose of vaccine.

On Sunday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inspected Maduvankarai PHC and St Francis Xavier Middle School at Little Mount to review the vaccination drive. The Chief Minister also directed district collectors to focus on achieving the vaccination target and to speed up the process.

Till Saturday, the state had inoculated 65 per cent of people with the first dose of vaccination and 22 per cent of the people with the second dose, said the report.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Ma Subramanian who inspected the vaccination camps in Dindigul, Karur, and Ramanathapuram, said the vaccination drive will not take place on Monday.
Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Radhakrishnan talking to people at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital said that 26 lakh people who are eligible to take the second dose of the vaccine have still not received the shot. He informed 20 lakh people are due for Covishield while 6.85 lakh people are due for Covaxin.
