7 Dead, 10 Injured After Speeding Lorry Hits Tourist Van In Tamil Nadu's Tirupattur

The accident took place after a speeding lorry hit a tourist van which crashed on women sitting on the road side median.

A fatal road accident on the national highway at Natrampalli in Tirupattur district of Tamil Nadu killed seven people, with more casualties feared, while 10 others were seriously injured. The accident took place after a speeding lorry hit a tourist van which crashed on women sitting on the road side median. The injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment. Deceased were identified as M. Meena (50), D. Devayani (32), P. Saittu (55), S. Devika (50), V. Savitri (42), K. Kalavathi (50) and R. Geetha (34) of Pernambut town in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. 

The incident comes a week after six members of a family were killed as a minivan crashed into a truck on Salem-Coimbatore National Highway in Tamil Nadu. The incident was caught on a camera and showed a white speeding minivan crashing into a stationary truck. 

On Sunday, three people, including a child, were killed and 16 others were injured after their pickup van was hit by a vehicle in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar, said the police, as per a PTI report. 

The accident between the two vans took place near Bhensi village on the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway, police said

The victims were on their way to Muzaffarnagar from Ghaziabad district to attend a family gathering when the incident took place, Khatoli Station House Officer (SHO) Mukesh Kumar told reporters. The injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment. 

The deceased were identified as Promod Sharma (50), Kartik (20) and Pari (10). 

Another road accident took place in UP on Saturday where a two-year-old girl was killed and her parents injured when their motorcycle was hit by a pick-up truck in Amethi. 

Vijay Yadav was travelling with his wife Anita and daughter Shradha on a motorcycle when the speeding truck hit them near Pindara village, according to the police, as per another PTI report. 

The girl was killed on the spot while her parents were admitted to the district hospital for treatment, they said.
