Tanker Drags 60-Year-Old Man On Mumbai-Goa Highway, Crushes Him To Death

A senior citizen died in Navi Mumbai after a tanker dragged him on the Mumbai-Goa highway and then crushed him to death.

A 60-year-old man died in Navi Mumbai after a tanker allegedly hit his car and then dragged him for some distance. As per police officials, the unfortunate incident took place on the Mumbai-Goa highway at around 2 pm on Saturday. A police official from the Panvel taluka police station, while talking to news agency PTI, said the man was driving his car on the Mumbai-Goa highway when a tanker hit his vehicle from behind. The official added that after the crash, the man came out to talk to the driver of the tanker. However, the latter moved his vehicle and dragged the man along with it to some distance.

The tanker driver then pushed the victim onto the road after which the sexagenerian got crushed to death under the vehicle. The deceased has been identified as Srikant More, a resident of Maharashtra's Khalapur. More's wife, who was also sitting in the car at the time of the incident, got an FIR lodged at the Panvel taluka station under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act, reported PTI.

According to police officials, the tanker driver fled from the crime scene after the incident. The accused has been identified, however, he is yet to be arrested, reported PTI.

Earlier on April 15, a man in Gurugram was crushed to death by a speeding car. The incident took place in Sector 14 at around 2 am when a white-coloured car crashed into a water ATM booth nearby and then ran over a man, Bajrang, who was sleeping inside his make-shift shop, reported PTI. The driver of the car immediately left the scene while leaving his car behind. 

The deceased's brother lodged an FIR against the unknown car driver under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code at sector 14 police station, reported PTI while citing a police official.
