Tamil Nadu Rains: NDRF Teams Rushed To Flood-Hit Districts For Rescue Operations
TN CM Stalin ordered to send rescue teams of NDRF and SDRF to Trichy, Erode and Namakkal districts due to the discharge of water from Mettur reservoir.
Chennai: As heavy rains continue to pound several districts of Tamil Nadu, especially in the western belt, several rivers and dams have reported a spate and normal life has been thrown out of gear in those parts of the state. The Cauvery river continues to brim with a maximum capacity and Godavari river is in spate in Krishnagiri district.
According to a report in Times of India, water inundation was reported in 100 houses near the bank at Kumarapalayam in Namakkal. A similar scenario was also reported near Edappadi in Salem with 500 homes getting inundated due to rain.
In Thavittupalayam in Karur, people were evacuated from low-lying areas.
All the rescued people have been provided shelter in government schools and marriage halls.

Several acres of farmlands have also got inundated due to the rains.
In Jawadhu Hills, a bike was washed away in Poyyaru.
On Thursday, TN CM Stalin held a review meeting with collectors of 12 districts of the state via videoconferencing. The meet was held with collectors including Tiruchy, Karur, Salem, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Ariyalur and Mayiladuthurai districts.

Three SDRF teams have already been stationed in Kanyakumari, Coimbatore and Nilgiris where a red alert was earlier issued by IMD.
