Tamil Nadu: 2 Men Arrested For Smuggling Liquor From Karnataka

Sathyamangalam Police in Erode district have arrested two young men on Tuesday for smuggling liquor from the state of Karnataka. According to reports, Police have captured 104 bottles of liquor and two motorbikes from the young men.

Erode: Complete lockdown with no relaxation has put tipplers in a desperate situation in Tamil Nadu. The situation is such that the boozer can pay any amount to get his shot.

Benefiting this condition, most of the young men are getting involved in liquor smuggling. One such case was registered in Erode district.

Apart from liquor, two motorbikes were also recovered from the duo, who were identified as C. Prashanth, 26, of nearby Kalayam village and G. Kuppusamy, 22, of Sujilkarai village, Times of India reported.

Police nabbed the Erode residents at Sujilkarai – Selumi Thotty cross road while they were returning from Karnataka with the liquor cartons.

In further inquiry conducted by the Police, it was revealed that they were smuggling the stock from Karnataka to sell them at a high price in Tamil Nadu profiting from the lockdown in the state.

As per the Times of India reports, police captured 104 bottles of liquor and two motorbikes from the duo, who were identified as C. Prashanth, 26, of nearby Kalayam village and G. Kuppusamy, 22, of Sujilkarai village.

Police nabbed these Erode residents at Sujilkarai – Selumi Thotty cross road while they were coming from Karnataka with the liquor cartons.

In further inquiry conducted by police, it was revealed that they were smuggling the stock from Karnataka to sell them at a high price in Tamil Nadu profiting from the lockdown in the state.
