Tamil Nadu: 102-Year-Old Man Gets 15 Years Jail Term For Sexual Abuse Of Minor

Based on the confession, he was arrested under the charges of penetrative sexual assault and sent to prison in 2018.

Chennai: The Tiruvallur Mahila Court sentenced a 102-year-old man to up to 15 years of imprisonment for sexually assaulting a Class 5 girl in 2018. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. 

According to a report on The New Indian Express, Avadi All Women Police registered a case against K Parasuraman based on the complaint of the girl's family in July 2018. 

Parasuraram, who was 99 then, was residing in his house in Sennerkuppam for a long time after his retirement. A family then rented a home next to his house and the couple had a 10-year-old girl child. 

On July 6, 2018, the girl suffered a stomach ache and when the parents tried to learn about the issue they then found that an elderly man next door sexually abused her. 

Angered by this, the family gave a complaint to the police and based on the complaint Parasuraman was picked up from the house. During interrogation, he also agreed of sexually abusing the minor, said the report. 

Based on the confession, he was arrested under the charges of penetrative sexual assault and sent to prison. 

After 3.5 years, Parasuraman on Thursday was convicted of a term of 15 years. The court also told Parasuraman to pay compensation of Rs 45,000 to the victim and was lodged in Puzhal prison. 

Parasuraman has five daughters and two sons.
