‘Tyranny Of Unelected’: Raghav Chadha Slams TN Guv For Refusing To Accept Senthil Balaji As Minister
Raghav Chadha said that the recent events in Punjab, Delhi, Bengal and Tamil Nadu have shown that some Governors are excessively overstepping their bounds.
AAP MP Raghav Chadha slammed Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi for not letting Senthil Balaji continue as a Minister without a portfolio in the state cabinet. He said that this was a tyranny of unelected since constitutionally council of ministers was CM’s sole prerogative and not Governor’s. In a series of tweets, AAP MP Raghav Chadha said, “Another case of tyranny of the unelected. Tamil Nadu Governor has unilaterally remarked that an MLA can't continue as a minister - something which is unheard of. Constitutionally, council of ministers is CM’s sole prerogative, not Governor’s.”
Raghav Chadha said that the recent events in Punjab, Delhi, Bengal and Tamil Nadu have shown that some Governors are excessively overstepping their bounds.
He said: “In Punjab, the Governor had refused to summon the budget session of the Assembly and rejected cabinet’s resolution to this effect. In Delhi, the LG has consistently and systematically paralyzed governance and crippled the elected government.”

What we are witnessing across non-BJP states is a dangerous trend. Governors are not above the law, Chadha said.
The MP said that the people of India elected their governments and Governors are bound by the aid and advice of council of ministers. The tyranny of the unelected Governors must not go unchecked.
The statement came hours after Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi refused to accept arrested state Minister Senthil Balaji to continue as a member of council of Minister. The Governor opposing the proposal said that "Senthil Balaji is facing criminal proceedings for moral turpitude and is currently in judicial custody".
