Madras HC Urged To Take Action Against Cong Leader KS Alagiri For Remarks On Judge
Congress Leader KS Alagiri on Sunday spoke against the judge and said that the judge should not have questioned the home secretary, according to reports.
Chennai: An advocate on Monday urged the Madras High Court to take suo moto action of contempt of court proceedings against the Tamil Nadu Congress unit chief KS Alagiri for his remarks against a High Court judge.
According to a report in IANS, the advocate practicing in the Madras High Court ML Ravi had appeared before the Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and mentioned his email in connection with Alagiri’s statement against Justice Anand Venkatesan. The email was sent to the high court registry on Sunday.
In his mail, as per the report, the advocate said that Justice Anand Venkatesan was annoyed as he reached the court late because of the traffic jam on Chennai roads due to the 93rd birth anniversary celebration of late actor Sivaji Ganesan. After reaching the court, the Judge had called upon the Home Secretary and questioned him about how public servants were held up due to traffic congestion caused by government events and how they were prevented from reaching their workplace on time, according to the report.

Quoting the advocate, the report said that the home secretary had expressed regret over the incident that caused inconvenience to the judge and assured him that such an incident would not occur again. But Alagiri on Sunday spoke against the judge and said that the judge should not have questioned the home secretary, the report added.
The report said that the Chief Justice had assured the petitioner that he would look into the issue.
