Chess Olympiad Closing Ceremony 2022: After Poster Row, Fresh Banners Show Image Of PM Modi, President Along With TN CM Stalin
Chess Olympiad Closing Ceremony 2022: TN government included the images following Madras HC order on July 27 instructing TN to include images of the President and the PM in promotional materials.
Chennai: Ahead of the closing ceremony of 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad 2022 in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday, the posters for the event have cropped up in the city. Unlike the opening ceremony, Tamil Nadu government has made posters with the images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and TN CM Stalin.
The advertisement also said that the event scheduled to begin at 4 PM on Tuesday will have TN Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports development Siva Meyyanathan, FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, Team India mentor Viswanathan Anand, All India Chess Federation President Sanjay Kapoor, Tournament Director Bharat Singh Chauhan and other government dignitaries.
Former Indian Captain Dhoni is also expected to be present at the event.

Tamil Nadu government included the pictures following Madras High Court order on July 27 instructing the state to include images of the President and the PM in the Chess Olympiad posters and advertisements in print and electronic media.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu government did not feature the image of PM Modi during the opening ceremony of the event. Following this, BJP members went on to stick the image of PM Modi on the posters of the event.
Meanwhile, ahead of the event, Greater Chennai Traffic police issued a list of arterial roads where traffic will be diverted as a result of the closing ceremony of the Chess Olympiad.

Traffic diversion
The police said, the vehicles from Pulianthope to Periamet will be diverted at Demelows Point towards Pulianthope and vehicles from EVK Sampath Salai-Jermiah Road junction will be diverted to Doveton. Commercial vehicles will also not be allowed beyond Nair Point and Gandhi Irwin Point.
The vehicles from Parrys will be diverted at Kuralagam junction, Wall tax Road and Mint Street.
