Another Low Pressure Area Over Southeast Bay of Bengal, Likely To Form Into Depression By Dec 15: IMD
As a result of the weather change, the IMD predicted rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next four days.
Chennai: The India Meteorological Department said that the Low Pressure Area over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean will likely move gradually westwards and become Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the same region during next 12 hours.
In a bulletin, India Meteorological Department said, “The Low Pressure Area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of east equatorial Indian Ocean persists over the same region at 0600UTC of today (Thursday), the 15th December it is likely to move gradually westwards and become well marked low pressure area over the same region during next 12 hours thereafter it would continue to move Westwards and maintain its intensity over South Bay of Bengal till 0000UTC of December 17, 2022.”
“Scattered to broken low and medium clouds with embedded intense to very intense convection lay over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean between Latitude 1.7N and 7 N and Long 86.0E and 94.0E minimum cloud top temperature is minus 88 Deg C,” it said.
The IMD said: “Associated maximum sustained wind speed is 10-15 knots and north of system is 25 knots. The estimated central pressure is 1007 Hpa sea condition is likely to be rough over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of the equatorial Indian Ocean.”
As a result of the weather change, the IMD predicted rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next four days. IMD said, "Mild to moderate rainfall will be experienced in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal districts from December 15 to December 18."
It also said that rainfall coupled with thunderstorms is likely to be experienced in some parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on December 19.
