Zika Virus in Kanpur: Health department is working on an alert mode after the first Zika virus case was found in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The health department team collected samples of several people while contact tracing. Although all samples have come negative, 9 suspected patients with Zika virus symptoms have also been reported in the meantime.
Teams looking for source of Zika virus
Health department teams are looking for the source of Zika virus. About 70 health department teams are conducting door-to-door surveys at Pardevanpur and Pokharapur under the guidance of central team from Delhi and experts from Lucknow. Actually, an Air Force personnel living in Pardevanpur had a report confirming a Zika virus infection, but it is yet to be ascertained from where the air force personnel caught the infection. The health department team is investigating the matter.
9 suspects found
About 4,500 households in Pokharpur and Pardevanpur have been surveyed so far. There have been 9 suspected patients with Zika virus symptoms. In addition, samples of those who have returned from foreign travel have also been collected and sent for examination. Similarly, 16 pregnant women within a radius of 3 kilometers are also being monitored. Health department teams going door to door are preparing a detailed report of Zika virus symptoms in pregnant women and people returning from outside.
A massive army of doctors and staff has been deployed to detect the Zika virus. ACMO level officers have been deployed for this. Similarly, six medical officers have also been deployed to monitor 70 teams.
