Petrol-Diesel Price Hike: Congress Protests In UP Against Inflation, Fuel Rates Hike
Congress has started a protest against inflation and fuel price hike. Congress will continue to protest till July 17.
Lucknow Congress Protest: Congress started its agitation against the ever-increasing prices of petrol-diesel and LPG in Uttar Pradesh. Women workers of Congress started protests by demonstrating at the Tehsil level across the state.
In Lucknow, under the leadership of the state president of Mahila Congress Mamta Chaudhary, women workers staged a protest by clanging plates at Sadar Tehsil.
Mamta Chaudhary said that there has never been so much inflation in the country. "Petrol never reached Rs 100 before this government in power, LPG now costs Rs 834. This government has given gas connections under the Ujjwala scheme, but how can a poor man afford to pay an exorbitant amount for cooking gas," she said.
Preparations are underway by Congress to gherao the assembly on July 17 as part of the state-level agitation.
As UP assembly elections are to be held next year, Congress is strengthening its organisation at the grassroots level. Recently, Congress held a meeting with its Wing Sewa Dal, Youth Wing NSUI, Women's Wing, and other cells and fronts.
