CM Yogi Announces Rs 2000 Annual Grant For Mobile Phone Recharge To UP Police
CM Yogi has announced a Rs 2,000 annual grant to meet the cost of recharging mobile phone SIM cards.
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday announced a 25 per cent hike in the nutritious diet allowance for policemen and a Rs 2,000 annual grant to meet the cost of recharging mobile phone SIM cards.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the Police Commemoration Day when he also paid tributes to the police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, reported PTI.
Adityanath also said the kin of all policemen who died of COVID-19 while discharging their duty are being given an ex gratia of Rs 50 lakh each.
A sum of Rs 18.50 crore has been paid so far to the families of policemen, who died of Covid, a UP government statement said.
Police personnel up to the rank of inspectors are presently being paid nutritious diet allowances between Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,600, depending upon their rank, ranging from constable and other grade IV employees to inspectors, the statement said.
The Chief Minister announced to provide mobile SIMs to personnel on field duty, chief guard and sub-inspector of police in view of maintenance of law and order and peace in the state, effective curbing of various incidents and early arrival at the spot, and providing SIM allowance of Rs 2,000 a year to all these personnel.
Yogi paid tribute to the policemen who lost their lives while on duty. He took the salute of the parade held on the occasion. He expressed confidence that all the members of the State Police will work with utmost sincerity, duty, and public service and cooperate in further strengthening the sense of security in the minds of the people of Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi assured the families of the martyred police personnel of the state that the state government will always be ready to take all necessary steps with full sensitivity for their welfare.
'Zero tolerance policy towards criminals' - Yogi
The Chief Minister said that the police personnel were infected with corona while performing their duty but continued to serve. 37 police personnel died of corona infection while on duty. 18 crore 50 lakh has been paid to their dependents through the appointed District Magistrate. Yogi said 23,075 personnel have been promoted to various non-gazetted posts of the police department. A proposal has been sent to the Police Recruitment and Promotion Board for direct recruitment to 829 posts of sub-inspector and 26,744 posts of constable.
The CM said the present government is working under the policy of 'Zero Tolerance' towards crime and criminals. As a result, a total of 151 criminals were killed and 3,473 injured in encounters during the period from March 20, 2017, to October 10, 2021, during the crackdown on criminals in various districts. In these operations, 13 police personnel lost their lives and 1,198 police personnel were injured.
