Rajinikanth Birthday: The temple, founded by Karthik, a retired Army officer and a devoted fan of Rajinikanth, has become a unique space for the actor’s followers to honour him.

Karthik has installed a new 3-foot tall, 300 kg idol inspired by Mappillai.

In a tribute to the legendary South Indian actor Rajinikanth, a new statue of the superstar was unveiled at the “Arulmigu Sri Rajini Temple” in Thirumangalam, Madurai, ahead of his 74th birthday on December 12. The statue represents the iconic character potrayed by Rajinikanth in the movie Mappillai.

The temple, founded by Karthik, a retired Army officer and a devoted fan of Rajinikanth, has become a unique space for the actor’s followers to honour him. The temple was originally set up in an upper room of Karthik’s home. The temple has images and statues of Rajinikanth apart from the regular prayers.

This year, as a part of the birthday celebrations, the temple replaced an earlier statue. Karthik has installed a new 3-foot tall, 300 kg idol inspired by Mappillai. Talking to ANI, Karthik expressed his excitement, saying, "To commemorate Rajinikanth’s 74th birthday, a new 3-foot tall, 300 kg statue of the superstar has been unveiled. Last year, in October, a statue of Rajinikanth was installed and worshipped. Now, a new statue has been created.”

Taking to X, TN CM Stalin said, "Happy birthday to my wonderful friend, Superstar Mr. @rajinikanth, who has crossed borders and made everyone from six to sixty become fans with his acting and style! I wish you, who have been accumulating continuous successes in the film industry, to always be peaceful and happy and to make people happy."

Rajinikanth, fondly called as 'Superstar', has an illustrious career spanning over four decades capturing the hearts of people with his distinctive style, magnetic screen presence and unforgettable roles.
