The Punjab Government launched the Door-Step Delivery (DSD) initiative on December 7 in an effort to revolutionise access to Government-to-Citizen (G2C) services.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday (December 7) announced the launch of the 'Bhagwant Mann Sarkar Aapke Dwar' service, encompassing 42 facilities. The service, accessible by dialing the designated number 1076, allows citizens to secure appointments and obtain certificates conveniently at their doorstep.

"We are starting a service named 'Bhagwant Mann Sarkar Aapke Dwar'. 42 services will be included in this and a number 1076 will be launched, by calling this number you can take an appointment, get your certificate made. You will get all these facilities at your doorstep," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

The Punjab Government launched the Door-Step Delivery (DSD) initiative on December 7 to revolutionise access to Government-to-Citizen (G2C) services. This service will deliver 42 critical G2C services, such as birth, death, income, residence, caste, pension, and electricity bill payments, to citizens across the state.

According to a report by Indian Express, in accordance with the Bhagwant Mann Government's "Sarkar Twade Dwar" scheme, these essential services will now be available at citizens' convenience, accounting for 99% of the massive volume of 1.16 crore transactions in 2022.

As per the report, the procedure is straightforward: citizens can request the service by dialling the dedicated helpline number 1076 and scheduling an appointment at a convenient time. These appointments are handled by a call centre, similar to the one used for Delhi Door-Step Delivery. Citizens will receive an SMS detailing the necessary documents as well as the appointment date and time after scheduling.

A nominal fee of Rs. 120 is applicable, which includes the visit to the citizen's location and the return of certificates, the report said. Furthermore, government fees and charges specific to the service will be collected. At the scheduled time, specially trained personnel equipped with tablets will visit homes or offices to complete paperwork, collect fees, and provide an acknowledgment receipt for application tracking.

Citizens will receive a digitally signed QR Coded certificate on their mobile phones if their application is approved within the prescribed timeline under the Punjab Transparency and Accountability in Delivery of Public Services Act. A hard copy of the certificate will be mailed to them.

Citizens will be able to access the DSD Service through both Sewa Kendras and a dedicated helpline number beginning today.
