Pak Intruder Shot Dead In Jammu And Kashmir As BSF Foils Smuggling Bid, 4 Kg Narcotics Recovered

Alert BSF troops killed a Pakistani intruder trying to smuggle narcotics along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir.

In yet another big success, the troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Pakistani intruder along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, thwarting a major narcotic smuggling bid. According to an official statement of the BSF, four kilograms of narcotic substance was recovered from the possession of the slain intruder. "In the intervening night of July 24 and 25, the vigilant BSF troops neutralised a Pakistani smuggler who was trying to smuggle narcotics through the Ramgarh border area," a tweet by BSF read.

According to a BSF spokesperson, during the initial search of the area, four packets of suspected narcotics, each weighing one kg, were found near the body of the deceased, reported PTI.

In another similar incident, officials said that border guards picked up suspicious movement near the S M Pura post in the Ramgarh sector late Monday night and resorted to firing after the suspected intruder paid no heed to the repeated warnings. As per PTI, officials said that the identity of the deceased is awaited as the search of the area is still continuing.

Earlier on Sunday, Punjab Police claimed to have foiled a trans-border drug smuggling attempt with the arrest of two drug smugglers after recovering 20 kilograms of heroin from their possession in the Fazilka district.

The smugglers were identified as Subeg Singh, a resident of Lakhmir Ke Uttar village, and Sandip Singh alias Seepa of Mansa village in Fazilka, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said.

According to Yadav, they received a tip-off that Pakistan-based smugglers would drop a large heroin consignment from across the border using drones and that the duo would come to collect it. Acting on the information, teams of the state special operation cell (SSOC) carried out an extensive operation at Haste ke Road near Rano village, the DGP said.

Upon seeing the police team, the duo tried to flee on their motorbike but the police apprehended them following a brief scuffle, he added. Ten packets of heroin, weighing 20 kg, were recovered from the accused, the police said.
