Mumbai To See More Downpour, 'Orange' Alert In Maharashtra. No Rain Warning For Delhi

IMD on Monday issued an 'Orange' alert for several districts of Maharashtra where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected till July 27. Meanwhile, no rain warning has been issued for Delhi.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'Orange' alert for six districts in Maharashtra. The Mumbai Regional Meteorological Centre stated on Monday that these districts can expect heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days. Speaking to news agency ANI, IMD Scientist RK Jenamani provided an update on the situation in the national capital, Delhi. He mentioned that no significant warning has been issued for Delhi, however, the city may experience high moisture and high temperatures, along with light showers.

Regarding other regions, Jenamani stated that heavy to very heavy rainfall continues in the Saurashtra-Kutch region, Goa, and coastal Karnataka. However, the downpours in Gujarat have reduced in the past 24 hours, leading to an improvement in the flood situation.

The districts in Maharashtra for which an 'Orange' alert has been issued for Monday are Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Kolhapur, and Satara. The same districts will remain under the 'Orange' alert on Tuesday, with the addition of Mumbai. On Wednesday, the 'Orange' alert is extended to Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Yavatmal.

For Thursday, an 'Orange' alert has been issued for Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Bhandara, Chandrapur, and Gondia. On Friday, only Satara is under the 'Orange' alert.

Regarding the rainfall in Goa and Mumbai, Jenamani mentioned, "We have caved the heavy rainfall warning over Konkan Goa including Mumbai and also coastal Karnataka... we have predicted extremely heavy rainfall over Telangana also on 25 and 26..."

Residents in the affected regions are urged to remain cautious and take necessary precautions to cope with the heavy rainfall and potential flood situations.
