Mumbai Police Nabs Man Wanted In Murder Case After 31 Years From Palghar
A man wanted in a murder case was nabbed by the Mumbai Police after 31 years from Nalasopara area of Maharashtra's Palghar district.
The Mumbai Police nabbed a 62-year-old man wanted in a murder case after 31 years from Nalasopara area in Maharashtra's Palghar district, news agency PTI reported, citing an official. According to PTI, the accused has been identified as Deepak Bhise. He is accused of killing Raju Chikna in 1989 and for murder bid on another person, Dharmendra Saroj.
Bhise was granted bail in 1992, but he never turned up for the case hearing in court. As per the official, the court declared Bhise absconding in 2003. "Whenever police visited Bhise's residential address at Tulaskarwadi in suburban Kandivali, local people would tell us he might have died, but we kept looking for him," the official said, as quoted by PTI.
During the search, police got the mobile phone number of Bhise's wife and tracked him down to Nalasopara, from where he was nabbed on Friday night, he further stated. Bhise had settled in the locality with his family members and used to take contracts for cutting trees, the official said.
"The accused, who is 62 years old now, has been arrested. Further investigation is underway," Kandivali police station sub-inspector Nitin Satam said, as quoted by PTI.
In another incident, the Mumbai police arrested two individuals for allegedly kidnapping a 17-year-old minor girl and forcing her into prostitution in West Bengal, said the police, news agency ANI reported on Friday. As per the police, the accused were identified as Kunal Pandey and Sikander Shaikh.
Speaking on the incident, Senior Officer of Dharavi Police Station Raju Bidkar said, "The 17-year-old girl had gone missing from her home in Dharavi in September. On the complaint of the girl's father, the police had registered a case of kidnapping against unknown persons," as quoted by ANI.
After this, the police registered the case and resumed their investigation. According to ANI, both accused were booked on Thursday for alleged rape and offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
