MP Officer Booked For Seeking Sexual Favours For Job From Woman
The officer was booked by Gwalior police for allegedly seeking sexual favours from a woman candidate.
A development corporation run by the Madhya Pradesh government terminated the services of an official after he was accused of seeking sexual favours from a woman on the pretext of giving her a job, reported news agency PTI.
A case was registered by the police against Sanjeev Kumar Tantuvay, who was a contractual field production officer at the Madhya Pradesh State Seeds and Farm Development Corporation, on January 13.
As per PTI's report, the crime branch of Gwalior Police booked him under sections 354-A (unwelcome sexual behaviour, including physical contact, demands for sexual favours) of the Indian Penal Code, on the basis of the complaint received.
According to ANI, the accused was on the interview panel that had arrived from the Seeds and Farm Development Corporation, Bhopal, to conduct an interview for a few posts in the seed corporation at the Agricultural University on January 3.
ASP Rishikesh Meena said, "In the preliminary investigation, it came to light that one of their staff, who was technically sound, was in the panel to conduct an interview for the recruitment. After the interview, he had messaged three woman applicants and demanded 'sexual favours' promising selection. One of the candidates showed courage and exposed the incident," reported ANI.
As per PTI, his termination order stated that he sent messages on WhatsApp to gain sexual favours from a woman candidate in exchange for the job at the government corporation. He also spoke to her over the phone and demanded sexual favours.
Munna Lal Goyal, Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Seed and Farm Development Corporation, said, "I received information about the matter on Monday morning that an employee of Seed Corporation had come here for an interview and three women candidates had complained that he had committed obscene acts during the interview. After getting the information, I talked to the managing director and instructed to terminate the employee with a dirty mentality. A notice for the same has been issued today and after three days, he will be terminated," quoted ANI.
The government-run corporation issued a termination order on Monday evening after the allegations against him were found to be true and his services were terminated with immediate effect.
