Police Hunt For Missing Assamese Girl Who Was Last Seen Boarding Train From Kerala To TN

A potential breakthrough came when a woman passenger informed the police that she had seen a girl matching Thasmid's description on a Kanyakumari-bound train

Kerala police have ramped up search operations to locate a 13-year-old girl from Assam who went missing from her rented home near Thiruvananthapuram. Thasmid Thamasum, the eldest daughter of a migrant worker couple living in Kazhakkoottam, was last seen at around 10:30 AM on Tuesday.

After her initial disappearance, Thamasum's parents filed a complaint with the local police, prompting a large-scale search effort that began later that evening. Authorities reviewed CCTV footage from various locations across the city, including railway stations and bus depots, in hopes of tracing the girl's movements, as reported by PTI.

A potential breakthrough came when a woman passenger informed the police that she had seen a girl matching Thasmid's description on a Kanyakumari-bound train. The passenger also provided the police with a photograph of the girl, who appeared distressed and was seen crying on the train. The parents later confirmed that the girl in the photo was indeed their missing daughter.

Based on this lead, Kerala police expanded their search operations to the Kanyakumari region in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday morning. However, as of now, there has been no confirmation that Thasmid has reached Kanyakumari.

It is also alleged that a couple of auto drivers in Kanyakumari saw her in the district.

The authorities even contacted the brother of the girl suspecting that she might travelled to his residence in Chennai. However, he said that he was not aware of her whereabouts.

The girl reportedly left her home with a bag and Rs 50.

The police continue to pursue all possible leads in their efforts to reunite Thasmid with her family, and the search remains active across both Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
