In Bengaluru, the luxury mall which was previously in the spotlight for traffic-related issues once again became a focal point of complaints from commuters and residents.
Bengaluru witnessed an overwhelming traffic jam near a luxury mall in Yelahanka on Christmas evening. Several visitors reported walking up to three kilometers to reach the mall due to inadequate parking facilities. Social media was abuzz with complaints related to the traffic woes. Some of the users highlighted the lack of infrastructure to manage the high footfall.
A X user said, "No amount of traffic management can set this right entry and exit of this Mall has not been planned to cater to this kind of footfall . Additional under pass needed to bypass weekend and holiday crowd. Be ready for similar extravaganza on New Year Eve."
"Authorities should approve malls only after the developer proposes & implements a traffic management plan/ system on regular and special days such as weekends and holidays," said another user.

However, this is not the first time the congestion has been reported especially near the mall in Bengaluru. Last year, Bengaluru police directed its management to shut operations for 15 days during the holiday season to ease traffic. However, the mall management approached the high court, promising to address the issue collaboratively with authorities.
Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Traffic Police advised commuters to avoid the area and opt for alternate routes to mitigate the gridlock. The traffic congestion was reported even as traffic police issued an advisory for vehicular movement on December 24 and 25.
