Haryana Violence: Nuh MLA Blames Govt And Police 'Failure' For Clashes As Oppn Appeals For Peace

Congress MLA from Nuh Ch Aftab Ahmed blamed the failure of administration and police behind the unrest.

Leader of Opposition in Haryana Legislative Assembly and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday termed the clashes in Nuh as “very unfortunate” and appealed to people to maintain peace, and law and order. A clash broke out between two groups in Haryana’s Nuh after stones were pelted during a religious procession and cars were set on fire on Monday. Police lobbed teargas shells to disperse crowds and called for reinforcements from other areas as the two sides pelted stones at each other. 

"This is very unfortunate incident. I appeal to people to maintain peace and law and order,” said Bhupinder Singh Hooda. 

Congress leader, former Haryana CM Deepender Singh Hooda also called the incident unfortunate. 

"The incident from Mewat is very unfortunate I'm appealing to people with folding hands...please maintain brotherhood, harmony and peace..." said Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s son. 

Congress MLA from Nuh Ch Aftab Ahmed blamed the failure of administration and police behind the unrest.

“We are appealing to people to maintain peace and not pay heed to rumours. The situation is unfortunate. I have never seen such failure of administration and police,” said the Nuh MLA.

Earlier in the day, Vishva Hindu Parishad's Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra was stopped by a group of young men near Khedla Mod in Nuh and stones were thrown at the procession, the police said, as per PTI's report. People in the procession allegedly hurled stones back at the youths who had stopped them.

At least four cars that were part of the procession were set on fire. Some police vehicles were also damaged, as per the report.

Mobile internet and SMS services have been suspended till August 2 (Wednesday) to contain the intense communal tension, the Haryana government stated.
