Nuh Violence: Haryana DGP Dismisses Pak Handles' Involvement, Vij Says Didn't Have Info On Tension Build-Up — Top Points

The Nuh district administration demolished illegal constructions at 12 different places, including on 2.6 acres of land around Nalhar Medical College.

New Delhi: The total number of arrests made in connection with Nuh violence has gone up to 216 and as many as 104 cases have been registered so far, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said on Saturday, reported news agency PTI. In the wake of Opposition’s demand for a probe into alleged intelligence failure, the minister said he did not have any information about an input on a possible build-up of tension.  

Meanwhile, Haryana authorities razed several illegal constructions on the third day of its demolition drive in Nuh, that was rocked by communal clashes earlier this week. According to officials, some of these structures were owned by those who were allegedly involved in the violence, PTI reported.

  • The Nuh district administration demolished illegal constructions at 12 different places, including on 2.6 acres of land around Nalhar Medical College. “These were illegal constructions. Notices were already given to owners of the demolished structures. The owners of some illegal structures were also involved in the violence during the Braj Mandal religious yatra. The demolition drive will continue," PTI quoted Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ashwani Kumar as saying.
  • According to District Magistrate Dhirender Khadgata, illegal structures in Pingawan, village Bisru, Biwa, Nangal Mubarikpur, Palda Shahpuri, Agon, area near Sahara Hotel, Adbar Chowk, Nalhar Road, and Tiranga Chowk were demolished. In Tehsola village, 24 temporary and one permanent structure were razed.
  • SP Narender Bijarnia assured stringent action against the perpetrators and said police took out flag marches at the sub-division levels of the district to ensure peace, PTI reported.
  • District Magistrate Dhirender Khadgata said curfew in the violence-hit district was relaxed from noon to 3 pm on Saturday. The curbs will be lifted for sometime on Sunday as well, he added.
  • Responding to claims that the authorities had information about trouble brewing ahead of the procession, Haryana Home Minister said he has had a word with additional chief secretary, Home, and the DGP, and they, too, said they did not have any information, PTI reported.
  • Speaking on the role of some Pakistan-based social media accounts in inciting violence, Haryana DGP PK Agrawal, as quoted by news agency ANI, said, “It is not correct to react to this immediately. We will probe the matter and take stringent action against those who are guilty.”
  • Addressing the media, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said the social media accounts of those who were allegedly involved in the incident are being monitored and action will be taken soon.
  • Meanwhile, Gurugram authorities visited a few slum areas and urged the labourers to resume work without any fear, PTI reported. They assured the workers, who have started fleeing to their native places in view of the recent violence, and urged them to get back to their daily activities.
