Two Children Among Three Dead As Tempo Overturns Near Delhi's Dwarka Flyover

The accident took place after the rear tyre of the vehicle carrying 22 workers burst while it was travelling to Manesar from Nizamuddin.

Three individuals, including two children, lost their lives and 10 others were seriously injured after a tempo carrying labourers overturned near Dwarka Sector 23 flyover in Delhi on Wednesday afternoon, an official said.

The official added that the accident took place after the rear tyre of the vehicle carrying 22 workers burst while it was travelling to Manesar from Nizamuddin. Among the dead are a 26-year-old man identified as Ranjeet and her daughter, as per the PTI report.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh stated that a PCR call reporting a fatal accident was received at 3:54 PM on the road between Dwarka Sector 9 and Sector 20/21.

A second call came in at 3:58 PM regarding another accident on the Dwarka Expressway near the Sector 23 flyover, heading toward Gurgaon, he added.

Upon reaching the scene, police and emergency responders found the vehicle overturned. Initial investigation suggested that a rear tyre had burst, leading the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Shabeer, was transporting labourers from the Nizamuddin area to a construction site in Manesar.

10 Injured Rushed To Hospital

All those injured were taken to Indira Gandhi Hospital in Sector 9, Dwarka. Unfortunately, Ranjeet and two children were declared dead on arrival.

"Ten people sustained serious injuries and are currently under treatment. The remaining passengers have been medically examined and are out of danger," the officer added.

A case has been filed, and further investigation into the incident is underway to discover all facts, including overloading and possible negligence.

In a separate road incident on May 16, at least three people died, and 31 others were injured in a major road accident that occurred in the early hours of May 16 on the Bulandshahr–Anupshahr road in the Jahangirabad police station area.

Bulandshahr SP (Rural) Dr. Tejveer Singh said, "Today in the morning, a road accident occurred. The driver of one of the vehicles lost control as he fell asleep while driving. A total of 34 injured individuals were sent to hospital. Three people have died. Further treatment has been provided to the injured."
