CM Himanta said that the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) will soon advertise for approximately 700 positions.
New Delhi: According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Assam cabinet approved the recruitment for approximately 10,000 government positions on Wednesday, reported news agency PTI. He stated that it also cleared reservations for retired armed forces officers for high-level government positions to enhance workplace culture. After presiding over a cabinet meeting at the Gandhi Mandap, Sarma briefed the media by stating that the decision to hire was consistent with fulfilling the promise to provide one lakh government jobs in the state.
"The cabinet has today approved the third Assam Forest Battalion, with an intake of 1,100 personnel and based in Lakhimpur. Another 1,700 vacant posts in the Forest Department will also be filled up," he said.
He stated that advertisements for approximately 6,000-7,000 regular and contractual positions in the Education Department will be published by December 31.
He added that the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) will soon advertise for approximately 700 positions.
"We have already recruited 40,000 people. Another 30,000 are in the process -- like some awaiting results. For the remaining 30,000, we want to at least publish the advertisements by January 30. We are committed to keeping our promise of one lakh jobs," the chief minister said.
Sarma stated that the purpose of holding the cabinet meeting at the Gandhi Mandap was to encourage more people to visit the location and be inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's ideals.
He stated that the Cabinet has approved the reservation of 2% of grade 1 and grade 2 positions for ex-service members because recruiting them will contribute to the improvement of the work environment in government offices.
He stated that it was also decided to offer one government job to the families of police officers killed in state counter-insurgency operations since 1985, benefiting over 400 families.
"This was a long overdue moral obligation that we are trying to fulfil now," he said.
