The Andhra Pradesh minister’s vehicle, which was following the police escort, came to a sudden halt as her driver applied the brakes just in time, allowing her to escape unhurt.

Gummadi Sandhyarani, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Women and Child Welfare, narrowly escaped an accident on Thursday when a police vehicle in her convoy collided with another vehicle in Vizianagaram district. The incident occurred at Busayavalasa village of Ramabhadrapuram mandal while the minister was en route from Salur to Mentada mandal to attend a program.

The accident happened when an Eicher vehicle suddenly entered the main road and collided with the police escort vehicle accompanying the minister's convoy, according to a report on IANS. Five police personnel traveling in the escort vehicle, including Armed Reserve Inspector V. Raman, Head Constable P. Sunil, Constables R. Ganapathy and C. M. The minister’s vehicle, which was following the police escort, came to a sudden halt as her driver applied the brakes just in time, allowing her to escape unhurt.

According to the police, the goods van traveling in the opposite direction was allegedly driven negligently, resulting in the accident, as reported by The Hindu.

Following the accident, Minister Sandhyarani remained at the scene to supervise the rescue operations and personally ensured that the injured policemen were taken to Tirumala Medicover Hospital in Vizianagaram.

Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police, Vakul Jindal, later visited the hospital to check on the condition of the injured officers, as per the report. He spoke to the doctors, including Tirumala Prasad, and requested that they provide the best possible care to the injured personnel. The SP also interacted with the injured policemen and their families, encouraging them and offering support.
