Writer Shobhaa De blasts Indian athletes in Rio, gets trolled instead

New Delhi: Rather than encouraging the Indian contingent participating in Rio Olympics, noted writer Shobhaa De apted to criticize them for bagging medals.     Shobhaa was immediately at the receiving end for her crass remarks and to support the players came the athletes from the fraternity in the form of Abhinav Bindra and Jwala Gutta. Even politicians criticized the writer for daunting lines. Bindra showing his grace responded to Shobhaa saying the comments were “a tad unfair” and instead she “should be proud of your athletes”.   However, it wasn’t the end of the conversation, Shobhaa to add more insult to the injuries again made a sardonic tweet.   What next? A barrage of tweets as usual from all corners making the 68-year-old South Mumbai author realize the solidarity they have for the Indian Olympians.
