WATCH: Henry Nicholls Takes An 'Absolute Screamer' To Remove Steve Smith
Kiwi speedster Neil Wagner, throughout the series, had bowled some lethal bouncers to trouble Smith and he finally managed to stun the Aussie linchpin batsman
Melbourne: Australia star batsman Steve Smith (85 off 242 balls) was batting brilliantly on Day three of the second Test between Australia and New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket ground and it seemed that the flamboyant right-hander would attain another remarkable ton, his 27th in the longest format, but he got dismissed on 85, courtesy an absolute stunning catch from Henry Nicholls.
Kiwi speedster Neil Wagner, throughout the series, had bowled some lethal bouncers to trouble Smith and he finally managed to stun the Aussie linchpin batsman by bowling a short delivery that first went up high in the air off Steve Smith's bat handle and finally ended up with Henry Nicholls who bagged a screamer at gully.
Here is the video:
Smith said on Thursday that he has learnt to block all the jeering he receives after sections of the crowd booed him when he walked out to bat against South Africa in the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground here. "Is that what happened? I have no idea," Smith was quoted as saying by www.cricket.com.au at the end of the day's play when he was asked about the booing for his role in the ball tampering saga last year. "I don't really listen when I walk out to bat. Cheering, booing, dunno (don't know). I've learnt to just block it all out, regardless, good or bad," he added. On the wicket, Smith said it was not an easy one to bat on and he is happy with the way he negotiated it. "It wasn't easy," Smith said of his 286-minute vigil. "There's a patch that if our bowlers - particularly with their height - can hit consistently when it's our chance to bowl, that could be a handful."✈ We have takeoff! ✈ A flying Henry Nicholls takes a screamer in the gully to remove Steve Smith! @bet365_aus | #AUSvNZ pic.twitter.com/SlCDEWXNSY
