Sanjay Bangar has been the head coach of Kings XI since 2014 and there are reports that the former India all-rounder might be replaced by Virender Sehwag after his resignation. "I submitted my resignation in the last week of November. They [KXIP] came back to me around the second week of December. I was totally engrossed in the [England] series and that is the reason why I sort of waited till the end of the series," Bangar was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. Kings XI reached their maiden IPL final in 2014 under the guidance of Bangar but since then the road has been downhill for the franchise as it finished at the bottom of the table for consecutive years. Bangar was reportedly involved in a spat with Kings XI co-owner Preety Zinta during the last edition of IPL. Bangar, however, described is journey with the franchise as a satisfactory one and also credited it for paving the way for his appointment as the batting coach of India. "It's been a fabulous journey," he started. "It gives me immense satisfaction to see the players whom I picked - from when they were in their formative years - to benefit from the exposure.” Former India opening batsman Virender Sehwag is believed to be the front runner to bag the job after Bangar’s resignation.
