Verstappen defied the usual norm of starting the race on soft tyres as he was the lone driver inside the Top 10 to start the race on hard tyres and eventually win the same , as per a report on Formula One's official website. Placed at No.4 on the starting grid, Verstappen moved his way upto P3 by Turn 1, after he made a clever maneuver to leapfrog Racing Point driver Nico Hulkenberg.

Verstappen then overtook Bottas with a brilliant move around Luffield, before clinching the Grand Prix to secure his first victory since the Brazilian GP last year. The win at Silverstone also happened to be Red Bull's first at the British F-1 circuit since 2012. Verstappen last win came in Brazil in the penultimate race of 2019 F-1 season . Hamilton enjoyed a late-race surge, passing his teammate with two laps to go to claim second place -- equaling the number of podium finishes of Michael Schumacher in the process. Meanwhile, it was the second time in three years that Bottas failed to convert a Silverstone pole into a win, as he came home third.VERSTAPPEN: “We had a lot of pace in the car. We kept pushing.
