Cricket Australia Appeals For Donations To Help Flood-Hit Pakistan

UNICEF Australia thanked CA (Cricket Australia) and Cricketer Usman Khawaja for helping out Pakistan and reaching out to people who are unaware that Pakistan is suffering from devastating floods.

New Delhi: Cricket Australia (CA) issued a contribution request to aid Pakistan's flood-affected households.

“It's been devastating to see the effects of torrential rains in Pakistan, with one-third of the country under water and more than 33 million people affected. If you can, please consider donating at http://pakistan.unicef.org.au/cricket” which was tweeted by Cricket Australia on Monday morning to help out Pakistani people during their hard times.

Australian player Usman Khawaja also shared a video on his Twitter handle asking to aid Pakistan. He said Pakistan doesn’t have enough resources for rebuilding itself and also stated in his tweet “Devastating floods in Pakistan. Over 1300 people have passed away so far. Families’ lives have changed forever. Many will never be able to rebuild again. Please donate if you can.  As little or as much as possible. It will make a world of difference”.

UNICEF Australia thanked CA (Cricket Australia) and Cricketer Usman Khawaja for helping out Pakistan and reaching out to people who are unaware that Pakistan is suffering from devastating floods. UNICEF tweet quoted, “Thanks so much to @CricketAus and @Uz_Khawaja for their incredible support.

Every donation helps us continue to provide life-saving aid to the children of Pakistan”.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had already made a plea for aid for Pakistan's flood victims.

In July-August, several parts of Pakistan were hit by heavy floods. In the wake of severe floods, the initial estimates of losses have accumulated in the range of USD 18 billion. Pakistan's agriculture sector faces the worst blow as the agriculture growth might remain zero or slide into negative territory against the envisaged target of 3.9% for the current financial year 2022–23. Huge areas of the country are still underwater, and hundreds of thousands of people have been evicted from their homes.
