India had a productive Day 13, as a Bronze medal from India Men's Hockey Team, followed by Neeraj Chopra's Silver medal in Men's Javelin Throw helped India reach the total of 5 Olympic medal at this year's Games.
However, there were completely contrasting emotions in both the medal wins, as Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan shattered India's dreams of a Gold medal at Paris Olympics 2024 by winning the event of Men's Javelin Throw Final. The Pakistani athlete was completely dominant and a league apart from rest of the competitors, as he broke the all-time Olympic record for the farthest throw in Men's Javelin Throw event by registering a distance 92.97m.
Such was his brilliance, that the mark became more and more elusive for the 11 other athletes and hence, Pakistan brought an end to it's 40-year drought of an Olympic Gold medal.
A moment of history was witnessed in Men's Hockey, as India registered back-to-back Olympic medal wins in the event for the first time in 52 years. Co-incidentally, it came against Spain, a side they defeated back in 1980 Moscow Games to win the Gold medal in the final.
Focusing on Day 14, Aman Sehrawat can increase the medal tally of India, as the wrestler is set to contest in the Men's 57kg Freestyle Bronze medal match against Puerto Rico's Darian Toi Cruz.

The big news as we end Olympics Day 14 from here is that hearing is over in the Vinesh Phogat case and an interim order is expected anytime soon by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) with a detailed order to come later. As we await that order, let's acknowledge that it was a medal day in the Olympics for India and let's celebrate it as we don't get too many of those.
