Manu Bhaker Seeks Continued Support In Pursuit Of Hat-Trick Of Medals At Paris Olympics 2024

As Manu Bhaker prepares for her third and final event in the 25m sports pistol qualifications, she expressed hope that fans would not be disappointed if she doesn't win another medal for India.

Manu Bhaker made history at the Paris Olympics 2024 by becoming the first Indian athlete since independence to win multiple medals at a single Olympics event. She secured bronze in the 10m Air Pistol individual event on July 28 and, alongside Sarabjot Singh, won another bronze in the 10m Air Pistol mixed event on July 30. As she prepares for her third and final event in the 25m sports pistol qualifications on August 2, Bhaker expressed hope that fans would not be disappointed if she doesn't win another medal.

Manu Bhaker will aim for a hat-trick of medals in the women's 25m pistol event, where she is among the medal favourites. However, she understands the unpredictability that comes with competing at the highest level.

"I hope the love stays. I will definitely try my best. I hope people are not disappointed. Please don't be angry if I don't win another medal," she said as quoted by PTI.

Win Or Lose, I Will Keep Worling Hard: Two-Time Bronze Medallist Shooter Says

Manu Bhaker described her experience as surreal, as she hadn't expected to win two medals in a single Olympics. With one event remaining in the 25m sports pistol, she expressed gratitude for her achievements so far and looked forward to her final competition. Bhaker also expressed that her journey will continue regardless of wins or losses.

"The feeling is surreal because I had not hoped I would win two medals in a single Olympics. There is one more match to go (in 25m sports pistol). So, I am looking forward to the next one, but I am grateful that I got another medal for India," Manu said further.

"I can't say that about myself (becoming a female sporting icon); if people call me that then I am grateful. But my journey will continue and there's no stopping for me, I will keep working hard even if I win or lose. I'll keep my head high and try my best. I have always looked up to athletes like Neeraj and Sindhu, who have always been able to prove themselves at certain levels. They have always been my seniors, I can't compare myself with them," the 22-year old Indian shooter said.
