'Marry Me': Novak Djokovic Receives Marriage Proposal From Fan At Australian Open 2024- WATCH

Novak Djokovic received a marriage proposal from a fan during his first-round win over Dino Prizmic on Monday (January 15).

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic began his Australian Open 2024 campaign against Dino Prizmic on Sunday (January 14). Even though the result was along expected lines with the 24-times Grand slam winner registered a 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4 win over his opponent, in a hilarious incident during the match the world number 1 received a proposal from a fan.  

The video surfaced on social media with a user posting a clip from the match in which the Tennis great can be seen bouncing the ball to prepare for his serve against Prizmic. While there was absolute silence in the court with fans anticipating a serve, a voice from the crowd offered a marriage proposal to Djokovic. That definitely brought smiles on the faces of all those present at the venue including Djokovic who responded by saying that he was already married and then continued playing.

"Marry me, Novak," the fan can be heard saying in the video. "I am already married," the tennis ace responded.

19th Appearance in Australian Open For Novak Djokovic

It is pertinent to note that the 2024 edition of the season-opening grand slam was the 19th time the 37-year-old is competing in the tournament. Among the 19 apperances in the competition, Djkovic has gone on to win the tournament a record 10 times-the most titles held by a men's player in the history of the esteemed championships.

However, Djokovic was all in praises his opponent Prizmic and told the press that he would go on to achieve great things in his carrer.

"I definitely, as I said on court, want to be in his corner as he is going to do great things. He has got everything in his arsenal, he is an all-round player...he never gave up - [he was] 4-0 down in the third and he kept going," Djokovic told the media after the match.

"His serve is really good, can be better but he’s only 18, he’s got so much time ahead of him. And yeah, he did surprise me with his performance. I did know he was playing well as I talked to my coach Goran who knows him," the 36-year-old added.
