On Friday, star India Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra made his way to the 2024 Olympics after a huge throw of  88.77m in his first attempt and also entered the final of the javelin throw competition at the World Championships. The 25-year-old Athelte's qualifying round lasted for only a few minutes after he sent the spear to his fourth career-best distance while competing in the Group A qualification round.

The qualifying mark for the 2024 Paris Olympics is 85.50m and the qualifying window started on July 1. Neeraj who won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics has a career-best throw of 89.94 that he achieved during the Stockholm Diamond League on June 30, 2022. Talking about Neeraj's run, Julian Webber of Germany was the only player in the qualification set A to have broken the 80m mark in the first round of throws.

DP Manu is the other player from India who ended third with a best throw of 81.31m behind Webber (82.39m) and has a great chance of making it to the finals unless other athletes throw more than him in qualification B. Notably, Neeraj was the only player from his Group who got a direct entry for the World Athletics final.

Neeraj who won the silver medal in the last edition of the World Championships is now looking for a gold. He also won gold medals in Asian Games and Commonwealth Games and has also sealed victory in the Diamond League champion.
