'A Dream Come True': India's Only Rider, Kadai Yasen Ahamed, Hoping To Make Mark At Inaugural MotoGP Bharat

Chennai-born Kadai Yaseen Ahamed, only second-ever Indian to compete in a MotoGP weekend, was picked as India's surprise wildcard entry for the Petronas MIE Racing team in the Moto3 class.

Kadai Yaseen Ahamed received the "call of his life" upon being picked as India's surprise wildcard entry for the Petronas MIE Racing team in the Moto3 class. The 26-year-old rider from Chennai is all set to realise his childhood dream as he gets the rare opportunity to showcase his racing skills in front of racing enthusiasts from all over the world at the inaugural MotoGP Bharat a.k.a. Grand Prix of India from September 22 to 24. Ahamed will hit the 5km circuit atop a Honda NSF250R at Greater Noida's famed Buddh International Circuit on September 24.

2021 Indian national champion Kadai Yaseen Ahamed, a wildcard entry in the Moto3 category, will share the track with Malaysia's Shahril Danial Syahmi and is all set to script history by becoming the only Indian rider to compete in the Moto3 category.

"It will be a dream come true for me to race in front of my home crowd at the Buddh International Circuit," Ahamed exclusively told Time of India (TOI) during an interaction.

So far in his racing career, Ahamed has attained great success. Back in 2020, Ahamed won the national championship in ProStock 400. He has been part of some prestigious international competitions like Asia Cup Japan and Thailand Superbike 400 series. Earlier this year, he featured in the Asia Road Racing Championship.

Racing superstar Jagan Kumar, a multiple-time Indian champion in motorcycle racing, introduced Ahamed to racing in 2012.

"Jagan started training me, and as a 15-year-old I started participating in races," Ahamed told TOI.

"I got a podium finish in my first year itself. A year later, TVS Racing got me in their team for the national championship. I won my first national title at the age of 17," he added.
