It was an even session and we can say that both sides have shared it. Williamson introduced Jeetan Patel early on and it was an intelligent bit of captaincy. It worked as Patel struck in his first over and sent Vijay back to the hut. Gambhir and Pujara joined hands and stitched together a healthy partnership. Gambhir was looking good out in the middle and was playing with intent and solidity before he played down the wrong line and was rapped LBW by Boult.

With the series already in their kitty, India would look to come out with the intention of a whitewash. The Kiwis will look to come out and give their best shot to salvage some pride.
