Jwala Gutta hits back for being termed anti-national because of her Chinese mother
The Indian badminton star was targeted in a series of heated conversations which started when one of the twitter users asked her, if she opposed the Prime Minister every time because her mother was from China. To this the 33-year-old reacted furiously by asking the user, to think twice before speaking.
New Delhi: While the people in the know how are still searching for a proper definition of nationalism, Twitteratis seem to be very clear about its antonym, as they found their fresh target and successfully adjourned badminton ace Jwala Gutta in one of its online sessions as the next big anti-national. The reason being her mother Yelan Gutta, who hails from Chinese descent.
But Gutta, like the Indian government, which is involved in a long-standing tussle with China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) at Doklam, refused to back off and instead gave it back to trollers.

This was all that was needed to spread the word ‘go’ for the twitterati as more got indulged in the argument, with one of them even asking her if she had any regrets on being an Indian. Jwala’s mother, Yelan Gutta, was born in Tianjin. Yelan first came to India in 1977 with her grandfather to visit the Sevagram ashram, where she translated Gandhi's autobiography and other works into Chinese. The Indian shuttler is not new to social media controversies and is known to speak her mind whenever the time calls. She had earlier expressed her sorrow after being snubbed on Padma Awards saying that it was given only to those who could procure “recommendation letters”. Infact earlier this year, she had expressed her disappointment over no mention of sports in Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s Union Budget 2017 presentation. She posted on twitter, “Will it be complaining or cribbing if ask what sports has in this budget???”When u bring my parents in the conversation..u wish u didn't see this side of me!!! Mind it ????
