Jemimah with Richa Ghosh on Sunday produced a master class to guide India to a seven-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening match of the Women's T20 World Cup. Jemimah (53 not out off 38 balls) and Richa (31 not out off 20 balls) stitched 58 runs for the unconquered fourth wicket as India chased down a challenging target of 150 with six balls to spare. Jemimah struck eight boundaries while Richa hit five fours during their unbeaten knocks as India reached 151 for 3 in 19 overs, their highest successful chase in the T20 World Cup.
Jemimah was raised in Mumbai along with her two brothers, Enoch and Eli. According to reports, she began playing cricket at the young age of four. Jemimah's athletic abilities extended to hockey as well, as she was selected for the Maharashtra under-17 and under-19 hockey teams. However, her cricket career took off at the age of 12-and-a-half, when she made her under-19 debut in the 2012-13 cricket season. At just 13 years old, she was picked for the state under-19 cricket team.
Jemimah made history as the second female player, after Smriti Mandhana, to score a double century in a 50-over cricket match. In November of 2017, she scored an impressive 202 not out in just 163 balls during a match against the Saurashtra team in Aurangabad.
In February 2018, she earned a place in the Indian squad for a three-match ODI series against South Africa.
Jemimah made her Women's Twenty20 International cricket debut for India against South Africa on February 13, 2018, and went on to make her Women's One Day International cricket debut against Australia on March 12, 2018.
In May of 2021, Jemimah's skill and talent earned her a spot in India's Test squad for a one-off match against the England women's cricket team.
