After winning the toss, LSG captain KL Rahul opted to bat first. Hyderabad’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered an early blow to Lucknow as he took the wicket of Quinton de Kock on the very first ball of his second and team’s third over. He claimed another crucial wicket in the form of Marcus Stoinis in the fifth over of the innings. From there on, LSG looked like they were withering away as SRH had them at 69-4 after 12 overs. However, Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran revived LSG’s innings and fought back well. They made sure that they got past the 150-mark as LSG posted the total of 165-4 in 20 overs.
Travis Head & Abhishek Sharma Show!
There was some chatter around how the pitch looked a bit slowish as Ayush Badoni in the post-innings talk with the official live-streaming partners of the iPL talked about it. However, all of that was put aside when Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma came out to bat for Sunrisers.
Head and Abhishek scored eight runs in the first over of their batting innings and that was the least they scored in the innings as they went on to score more than 14 runs in every other over until they chased down the target pof 166 runs in just 9.4 overs. Travis Head finished with the score of 89* off just 30 balls with eight sixes and eight fours. His batter Abhishek Sharma was not too far behind as he finished with the score of 75* runs off 28 balls with six maximums and eight fours.
Notably, this was also the highest score put up inside the first 10 overs of a batting innings.
