IPL 2020: Sunrisers Hyderabad Rope In Ex-KKR Bowler As Replacement For Injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar could not complete the 19th over against Chennai due to injury and had to be forced out of the ground. After this, Khalil Ahmed completed his over. This is the second major setback for Hyderabad in the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad today officially confirmed Bhuvneshwar Kumar's exit from IPL 2020. The king of swing will be replaced by 22-year-old Prithvi Raj Yarra in the team. Sunrisers Hyderabad took to social media to confirm about the same.

Prithvi Raj Yarra, 22, has played 11 first-class matches, 9 List A matches and three T20 matches. During this period, the left-arm medium pacer has taken a total of 43 wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar had suffered a hip injury against Chennai Super Kings, due to which he had to be ruled out of IPL 2020.

Yarra has 15 wickets in his name in 9 matches of List A and his best performance is 5 wickets for 21 runs, while in 3 T20 matches he has taken 4 wickets. Prithvi Raj Yarra has so far represented Andhra Under 19, Under 16, Under 14, Under 22 and India A. He is currently part of the Andhra Ranji team.

Reportedly, as per a BCCI official, Bhuvneshwar has grade two or three injury which may take six to eight weeks to recover and due to this he may not be able to take part in India's tour of Australia. Earlier, Mitchell Marsh had been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder has been added to the squad in place of Marsh.
Even after Bhuvi's injury, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Chennai Super Kings by seven runs in the match played at Dubai International Stadium. Batting first, Hyderabad scored 164 runs after losing five wickets in 20 overs, courtesy an unbeaten 51 from youngster Priyam Garg.
Chennai were able to score 157 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Chennai's highest scorer in this game was Ravindra Jadeja, who played an superb innings of 50 runs off 35 balls. This is Jadeja's first half-century and best score in the IPL. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni remained unbeaten on 47 runs.
