IPL 2020, MI vs KKR: Mumbai Indians Restrict Kolkata Knight Riders To 148/5 At Abu Dhabi

IPL 2020, Mumbai vs Kolkata match today in UAE: umbai Indians got off to a great start as they got cleaned up two KKR batters within the first six overs. At the end of powerplay, KKR managed to reach 33 for loss of two wickets.

Mumbai Indians bowlers were clinical with the ball and in the field to restrict Kolkata Knight Riders to 148/5 at Abu Dhabi on Friday. After losing some quick wickets, KKR captain Eoin Morgan (39*) and Pat Cummins (53*) staged a fightback with a fifty partnership to make sure their team attain a respectable total of at the end of their allotted 20 overs. Eoin Morgan won his first toss of IPL 2020 and decided to bat first in the crucial clash against defending champions Mumbai Indians. Rahul Tripathi and Shubman Gill started the KKR innings with Trent Boult bowling with the new ball. MI pacer Boult delivers a superb first over, conceding only 3 runs off it. Nathan Coulter-Nile shared the new ball from the other end and was bowing in the IPL 2020 for the very first time. The paceman looked a bit out of form as he bowled three wides in his 1st over. Boult in his second over provided an early breakthrough after Suryakumar Yadav grabbed an absolute fine catch at point to dismiss the KKR opener for just 7 off 9 balls. In the last over of the powerplay, Nathan Coulter-Nile struck with a short ball to depart Nitish Rana who tried to pull but ended up edging it behind to the wicket-keeper. Mumbai Indians got off to a great start as they got cleaned up two KKR batters within the first six overs. First, he dismissed well-set Shubhman Gill for 21 and in the very next ball he cleaned up skipper Dinesh Karthik who tried to play a sweep shot but his inside edge shattered the stumps. MI were now in complete control of the game as KKR had lost its top four batters for just 44 after 8 overs. Andre Russell, the new man in, averted a hat-trick with a single and later brought up the 50 for Kolkata Knight Riders with the help of a big six into the stands. Andre Russell looked in good touch and smashed blistering boundary but in the same over MI speedster Jasprit Bumrah rattled him with a short ball. Pat Cummins made his way in the middle after Russell departed.
