Bangar is not a new person to the IPL. He has been a batting coach of Kochi Tuskers in 2010 and then was the assistant coach of Kings XI Punjab in the year 2014 and later on became the head coach of Punjab in the very next year. That year was the best year for the Punjab franchise as they reached their first final of IPL. Bangar then went on to coach the KXIP side for three years. He had to quit that job in 2017 as he was also India’s assistant coach during that period and BCCI’s ‘conflict of interest’ rules were going against him.
He was appointed India’s coach after a terrible batting performance in 2014 in England. He went on to do the job till 2019 until he was sacked after the 2019 World Cup defeat. He also took the responsibility of India’s head coach in the absence of Anil Kumble in 2016.
RCB are hoping to turn their fortunes after not being victorious for years.
