IPL 2021, MI Vs SRH: Sunrisers Choke Again As Mumbai Snatch A Win From The Jaws Of Defeat

IPL 2021: Mumbai Indians registered second win in a row against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday. Plenty to look back for David Warner and SRH.

IPL 2021, MI Vs SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad is in all sorts of trouble as they lose three matches in a row. Mumbai Indians won by 13 runs. MI bowled well overall to register a tricky win against SRH. Kieron Pollard was adjudged Man of the Match for his late hitting and also a bit of disciplined bowling. It was the same story, yet again for Sunrisers as they fail to register a win at the Chepauk, Chennai.

Mumbai Indians had earlier scored 150 runs courtesy of an okayish start and a flourish by Kieron Pollard. KP hit his 200th six IPL six in the match, he also hit a 105 meter long six, which by the way is the longest hit six in this year’s IPL. It was a difficult wicket to bat on, but SRH bowlers like Vijay Shankar and Mujeeb ur Rehman picked a couple of wickets each in the middle of a good bowling performance by the team.

In response, SRH began well, brilliant, in fact. With Bairstow scoring 43 in just 22 balls and Warner accompanying him, SRH piled on 67 runs for the first wicket. Bairstow got out in an unfortunate manner, he was hit wicket on the bowling of Krunal Pandya. After Bairstow’s dismissal, Warner followed suit. He was dismissed, courtesy of a run out by Hardik Pandya. None of the batsmen who followed showed any promise with the bat. The middle-order performance is a cause of worry for the team and especially for coach VVS Laxman.

Let’s see what the Captains and the Man of the Match winners had to say.

Kieron Pollard (Man Of The Match): "The situation of the game dictates the batting order. We always have to be padded up. It's nice to see other guys also delivering, so not much pressure. Those runs at the end really helped us."

David Warner: "These are very much chaseable targets, if you get a partnership and if there is one person at the end, you can chase it down. The guys need to play smart cricket in the middle, the bowlers have been fantastic and this wicket was slower than the previous wickets that we have played."

Rohit Sharma: "It was a great effort from the bowling unit. We knew it wasn't going to be easy. On that pitch, when you're bowling well, it's not easy. I thought it was a good score on that pitch. Our fielding was really good tonight, that's something we take pride in. Those runouts and also the catches."

It was a dismal performance by SRH and there’s a lot to look behind for the management.
