GT vs DC HIGHLIGHTS: Delhi Capitals Beat Gujarat Titans By 6 Wickets And 67 Balls Remaining In Massive Boost To Net Run Rate
IPL 2024, GT vs DC HIGHLIGHTS: DC dominated the entire match and hardly put a foot wrong at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to beat GT by 6 wickets.
DC have chased down the target in 8.5 overs. A comfortable 6-wicket win for the Capitals.
It's Pant who smashes a maximum, over long-off against Rashid. Can DC win it in this over itslef now?
7 runs off the 7th over which was bowled by Noor Ahmad including a leg bye. A boundary off the bat of Pant too. DC- 74/4 after 7 overs.
Sumit Kumar new man in for DC. They need 23 runs from 84 balls.
Hope goes for the reverse sweep but finds short third. Rashid has struck, having only conceded 2 runs off his first four balls. DC-67/4 after 5.4 Overs. Hope out for 19 off 10.
Rashid Khan to finish off the powerplay for GT. Can he produce something special here to excite the fans or will it be a straightforward win for DC?
Pant out in the middle. Last over of the powerplay still to come.
Warrier bowls Porel who tried to go for another big shot but failed. He goes back for 15 off 7 but has played exactly how the team wanted him to play. It's 23-run over which has ended with a wicket. DC- 65/3 after 5 overs.
Third Six Of The Over. It's come off the bat of Porel. There is a deep square leg place but so well is the southpaw's execution that he can't help but watch it sail over his fence.
Shai Hope palying the role to perfection, given the situation and the need for a NRR boost for DC. A boundary to begin with followed by a couple of sixes. 16 runs off the first three balls of the over, the third on the trot for Sandeep Warrier.
Punched off the back in front of point to get the boundary. Great shot from the youngster. DC's Impact Sub- Abishek Porel. He finds another boundary off the very next ball to end the over. This time it's pulled for a boundary in the square leg region. DC-42/2 after 4 overs. They need 48 run sfrom 96 balls. Johnson's second over goes for 11.
Abishek Porel and Hope. Johnson continues for DC.
Shai Hope walks in at number 4 for DC.
Shaw had earlier scored a boundary in te over but Sandeep bounces him and he is caught off guard. Easy catch at short third. DC- 31/2 after 2.4 Overs.
Sandeep To Continue for GT.
McGurk's cameo has come to an end. He falls for 20 off 10 balls. Spencer Johnson cramps the batter for room who tries to go through with the shot on the leg side but manages to flick it straight to midwicket. DC- 25/1 after 2 overs.
Fraser-McGurk with a SIX and a FOUR in the first over of the chase itself. He only has one gear really, as David Warner explained during a mid-match interaction with the commentator. Sandeep Warrier's over goes for 14, 11 against the bowler's name with 3 runs coming as leg byes. DC- 14/0 after the 1st over.
Shaw, Fraser-McGurk Out For DC. And they have managed to get Delhi off to a flying start in this 90 chase.
Mukesh rattles the stumps of Noor Ahmad and GT are bowled out for 89. GT are all out in 17.3 overs. Sheer dominance this by DC so far in the match. They have hardly put a foot wrong after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. Mukesh finishes with figures of 3/14. DC need 90 to win.
Another wicket falls. It's GT's last hope Rashid who falls who tries to go for the upper cut on a short-pitch ball from Mukesh Kumar close to the body only manages an edge. He goes for 31 off 24, the top-scorer this innings. GT- 88/9 after 17.1 overs.
Here is the first six of the evening, brought to you by Rashid Khan. He picks up the googly early and goes inside out over covers for a six against Kuldeep Yadav. That would help GT's cause. They are yet to breack the 100-run mark.
Abishek Porel comes on as Impact Sub for DC. He replaces Khaleel.
Noor Ahmad now as GT look to bat out their 20 overs.
Khaleel will bowl out and he finishes with a wicket. It's a wide ball and Mohit throws his hands at it. But not enough power or timing on that one. Holes out in the deep. He goes back for 4 off 14. GT- 78/8 after 15 overs.
Well then, seems like it will be tough for GT to save this game, unless a remarkale perfomance from here on from Rashid & Co, backed by their bowling and fielding. DC have a good chance to boost their net run rate (NRR) in this game then. GT- 75/7 after 14 overs.
Mohit Sharma is the new man in for GT. But it is Rashid who will be the last hope for GT in this innings at this stage.
Spin At Both Ends for DC. Axar and Kuldeep bowling in tandem.
Tewatia goes back. It's getting bad to worse for GT. The ball turning in against the left-hander and he has been given out LBW. The southpaw reviews but it comes as Out on Umpire's call. Tewatia out for 10 off 15. Axar strikes off his second over. GT-66/7 after 11.2 Overs.
Rashid with a couple of boundaries in the 9th and the 10th over. First one convincing and what a way to get off the mark first ball. It's cut hard and it beats the point fielder to his left. Then a top-edge off Axar Patel's first over that helps him and GT with another vaulable boundary. Welcome runs these. Halfway through. GT- 61/6 after 10 overs.
Rashid Khan has joined Tewatia in the middle.
GT were forced to announce Shahrukh Khan as an impact sub in place of Sudharsan but he gets out in the same over. It's two wickets in three balls for Stubbs as Pant affects a stumping again. The DC captain could not quite collect the ball cleanly but the ball slipped out of his gloves and broke the stumps. A tricky call for the third umpire as it was the gloves that seemed to have dislodged the bails but the umpire ruled it in favour of DC. GT- 48/6 after 8.5 Overs. Shahrukh Khan out for a duck.
Further trouble for GT as it's Abhinav who will have to walk back. Tristan Stubbs, bowling his first over, gets a wicket. Manohar tried to push for a ball outside off but was beaten and with his backfoot getting outside the crease, Pant affects the stumping in time. GT- 47/5 after 8.3 Overs. Manohar back for 8 off 14.
It's Rahul Tewatia and Abhinav Manohar who are out in the middle for GT. They have a job to do at their hands. Both are usually the designated finishers but now have to rebuild this innings and take GT to a position of solidity before the final touch.
It's a maiden over from Khaleel Ahmed to finish off the powerplay. A powerplay that has completely belonged to DC. Khaleel Ahmed with figures of 3 overs, none for 15.
And another one bites the dust. Ishant strikes again. It's the wicket of David Miller. It's an inside edge off his bat which was taken by Pant. Initially the decision was not out but DC reviewed and the decision had to be changed. Ishant 2 overs, 2 for 8. GT in deep trouble now. GT- 30/4 after 5 overs.
Sai Sudharsan gets run out. He takes off for a single after playing the first ball towards the on side but Sumit Kumar with a brilliant throw to hit the base of stumps, catching the batter short at the non-striking end. He falls for 12 off 9. GT- 28/3 after 4.1 Overs.
It's Saha too who has to go back. Mukesh Kumar who replaced Ishant into the attack gets his wicket. Saha tries to go for the pull but it's not quite as short. The GT opener only manages an inside edge and it's onto his stumps. After an 11-run over, thanks to a couple of boundaries from B Sai Sudharsan against Khaleel, GT lose another wicket inside powerplay. They are 28/2 after 3.5 overs.
It's an early wicket for DC. GT were looking good with Shubman Gill having scored a boundary each in the first and the second over before he played an aerial stroke which went straight to the man at cover where Prithvi Shaw grabbed a safe catch. Ishant Sharma, who is sharing the new ball with Khaleel, gets a wicket. GT- 11/1 after 1.5 Overs.
Here We Go! Wriddhiman Saha is back opening the batting for GT with Shubman Gill. Khaleel Ahmed, left-arm pacer, has the ball in hand for DC.

With Mitchell Marsh having already flown back to Australia, it would be interesting to see who opens the batting along with Prithvi Shaw. As far as GT are concerned, David Miller is fit and available for selection and that means in all likelihood Matthew Wade could make way for him in the side. GT also have a home advantage in this game which augers well for them. But DC would be aware that they might risk leaving themselves too much to do if they fail to crack the winning code now.
