UAE Cricket Board Awaits Final Green Signal From BCCI To Host IPL 2020

Earlier on Tuesday, the IPL governing council chairman Brijesh Patel had confirmed that the 13th edition of the flgaship T20 league will be staged in the United Arab Emirates taking into account the worsening ground scenario in India due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday confirmed that they are await for an official nod from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to stage the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). "We are awaiting final confirmation from BCCI regarding being the host nation. There is also the final condition of BCCI gaining approval from the Indian government that they can host the IPL outside India," the Emirates Cricket Board said in a statement to ANI. "IPL 2020 which was postponed due to coronavirus will now be held in UAE," Patel had told ANI. He also said that the BCCI has applied for government permission to go ahead with the tournament and further course of action would be discussed in the IPL governing council meeting. With the postponement of the ICC World T20, slated to be held in October-November later this year, the decks are pretty much cleared for the BCCI to stage the IPL. The Indian Board has set its eyes on hosting the tournament in the UAE from September 26 to November 8.
