Earlier He Used To Manage Team, This Year He’s Also Managing Himself: Sanjay Manjrekar On MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni-led CSK are currently at the fourth place in the points table with 10 points from 8 matches.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are all set to take on the Punjab Kings in match number 41 of IPL 2023. The match is being staged at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK have been in good form this season so far having won 5 matches out of the 8 fixtures and find themselves at the fourth place in the points table. Their captain MS Dhoni has been in good form. His tactical genius has been behind some of Chennai's victories. In addition, he has been great behind the stumps as well as played a few cameos with the bat.
Even former India cricketer turned commentator seems to be in aw of the ex-India skipper. He noted that Dhoni knows his limitations and manages himself well to give the best output for the team within those limitations.
“MS Dhoni is a clever cricketer. He knows his limitations. We are seeing a new avatar of him this season. Earlier, he used to manage the team, this year, he’s also managing himself,” Manjrekar told Start Sports.
It is pertinent to highlight that Dhoni has been around for a long time and has been the captain of CSK every year that they have participated in. Even though all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was named the skipper of the Men in Yellow last year, the franchise decided to go back to Dhoni midway through the season and has stuck with him for this edition as well.
Even at 41, Dhoni's reflex is on point and he has been at his best when it comes to taking catches, affecting stumpings and producing run-outs. While there have been speculation over this being his final year in the IPL, with Dhoni himself admitting that this is the last phase of his career, no official confirmation has come from him or his franchise.
Talking about CSK's ongoing day game against PBKS, Dhoni has won the toss and chosen to bat first, citing the heat factor in this afternoon match.
