IPL 2020, DC vs RR: Fifties From Dhawan And Iyer Propel Delhi Capitals To 161/7 Against Rajasthan Royals At Dubai

IPL 2020, Delhi vs Rajasthan match today in UAE: Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer ensured Delhi Capitals make a good recovery after losing early wickets. In the end, Alex Carey and Marcus Stoinis did their job by hitting some aggressive strokes to help their team make a respectable total of 161/7.

Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer steadied the sinking ship of Delhi Capitals with their 85-run partnership for the 3rd-wicket to propel their team to 161/7 against Rajasthan Royals at Dubai international cricket stadium on Wednesday. For RR, their star all-rounder Jofra Archer was the pick of the bowlers as he cleaned up Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane in successive overs to give his team a perfect start.

If Iyer-skippered Delhi Capitals win tonight, they will grab the first spot in the IPL 2020 points table. On the other hand, if Royals, who are at the bottom of the points table at number seven spot, attain a win tonight then will jump to 5th position.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bat first. Their regular openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan came out in the middle to start the proceedings. Prithvi Shaw took the strike and faced in-form Jofra Archer with the new ball. Archer provided RR with a great start by striking with the first ball to clean up Prithvi Shaw for a duck.

The Delhi Capitals were in sort of trouble now as Archer struck again in his second over with a fiery delivery to depart Rahane for just 2 runs. After destroying the stumps to get a breakthrough off the first ball of the match, the English speedster delivered another major blow to DC by cleaning up Rahane, who was just playing his second game of this season.
Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer ensured Delhi Capitals make a good recovery after losing early wickets and made 47/2 at the end of the Powerplay. Shikhar Dhawan looked in good touch with the bat and was striking at 200 in the first six overs. Soon after in the eighth over, Dhawan and Iyer stitched a hard-fought 50-run partnership for the third wicket to lead Delhi's revival.
Shikhar Dhawan continued to rebuild after the bad start and in the process raced to a 30-ball fifty, his 39th in IPL. RR needed a wicket to bring themselves back into the game and it was spinner Shreyas Gopal who provided the big breakthrough by claiming the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan. The star opener departed after a good 57 off 32 as he holed out trying to reverse-sweep for a biggie. Marcus Stoinis was the new man in.
Shreyas Iyer scored his 15th IPL half-century with a six. He was almost caught by Stokes near the boundary but the all-rounder had just stepped outside the rope before releasing the ball. However, Iyer's stay at the crease was short-lived after that as he soon got caught out by Jofra Archer.
In the end, Alex Carey and Marcus Stoinis did their job by hitting some aggressive strokes to help their team make a respectable total of 161/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
