AB de Villiers Picks Kohli Among 7 Indians In His IPL All-Time XI Team, Names Dhoni As Captain

De Villiers, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, also picked his franchise skipper and himself in the XI.

Former South African batting great and Royal Challengers Bangalore stalwart AB de Villiers donned the selectors hat to pick his all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) XI team. The Proteas batting wizard picked six Indian players in his all conquering team, naming CSK skipper MS Dhoni as its captain. De Villiers, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, also picked his franchise skipper and himself in the XI. De Villiers picked a lethal opening combination with former Indian explosive opener Virender Sehwag opening the innings with Mumbai Indian's batting mainstay Rohit Sharma, whom he described as someone who has been playing 'the best cricket in the world over the last 5 years'. De Villiers picked himself and RCB skipper Kohli at No. 3 and No. 4 to spearhead a powerpacked middle order while England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who will be leading his team for the first time in Tests, was picked at No. 5. Afghanistan leg spinner Rashid Khan spearheads the spin armoury along with left arm spinner Jadeja while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Kagiso Rabada for a lethal pace trio in in de Villiers' all-time XI. After beginning his IPL career at Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals), de Villiers went on to produce one of the most admired partnerships in IPL history with Kohli at RCB. The two players have been key to RCB's performances over the years and played a crucial role in helping the team reach the final in 2016.
