IPL 2022: RCB Takes Jibe After Virat Kohli's Controversial Dismissal Against Mumbai
Dewal Brevis departed Virat Kohli after which he asked for a DRS review. Upon reviewing the on-field decision, the third umpire felt that the ball had hit Kohli's bat & pad simultaneously.
New Delhi: Ex-Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli showed great signs of a return to form after playing a brilliant knock against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Unfortunately, Kohli missed out on scoring his maiden half-century this season. He scored 48 runs off just 36 balls against Mumbai. Earlier, he had scored 44 runs in RCB's first IPL 2022 match against Kolkata.
Dewal Brevis dismissed Kohli on his very first ball in IPL. The star batter asked for a DRS review. Upon reviewing the on-field decision, the third umpire felt that the ball had hit Kohli's bat and pad simultaneously. Therefore, he didn't reverse the original decision which was out and Kohli had to return back to the pavilion.

Kohli was visibly furious as he even slammed his bat with full force on the ground as he was walking back to the RCB dugout.
Reacting to the decision, RCB took to Twitter and wrote, "We were just reading through the MCC Laws of Cricket for LBW decisions, and here's what we found. Unfortunate that Virat Kohli had to walk back disappointed after a brilliant knock."
MCC Laws of Cricket for LBW states, "In assessing point 36.1.3, if the ball makes contact with the striker's person and bat simultaneously, this shall be considered as the ball having first touched the bat."
Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets to seal their third win in the tournament, courtesy of opener Anuj Rawat's (66 runs off 47 balls) and Virat Kohli's (48) innings.
